Some other things I like to share...Cocktails anyone?

When I come across things, sometimes new, sometimes different, sometimes just because I happen to like whatever it is at the moment, I like to share them with others.

So, I decided to add a page specifically to those things on my blog.

It could be recipes ( I love to cook), a new cocktail recipe I've tried, pet related stuff, clothing, books, you tube video's etc. I hope you all enjoy!!

I recently saw this online. It's pretty and to me; kind of winter-ish, so I (and my son) wanted to try it or perhaps... three. It's called a "Blackberry Vodka Mojito".

This is the recipe: In a highball glass, muddle 4 basil leaves and 4 blackberries (see how to muddle below).

Fill glass with ice, then add 1 ½ oz. Smirnoff No. 21 vodka and 6 oz. lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a slice of crystallized ginger and fresh berries.

I'm not a big fan of super sweet cocktails, so this was perfect. I had made a big pot of Beef Stew & fresh baked bread earlier in the day, and so I was sitting by the fireplace relaxing, and enjoying just being inside the toasty warm cabin, the crackling sounds of the fire with my mom and my dogs.

Eventually, my son and I ended up outside on the front porch sitting in the Adirondack chairs watching the snow fall and two of our dogs playing in it for a few.

Our third dog the oldest and smallest, she hates the snow, so she stayed inside with her Grammy curled up next to her Grammy by the fireplace.

Later in the night, a couple of neighbors from down the street were walking by and saw my son and I sitting on the porch, so they stopped in. I made them a couple of cocktails too, which they seemed to enjoy as well!!

These cocktails were the cherry on top to a perfect day!!

*** How to muddle:

1. Add the herbs and sugar (or simple syrup, bitters, or whatever else the recipe calls for) into a shaker tin or pint glass. We prefer to use a tin so that the glass doesn’t break in your hand if your muddling gets too ambitious.

2. Take your muddler and press and twist it into the herbs gently. Don’t grind into the glass--you aren’t trying to tear the herbs to smithereens (unless you prefer to chew your cocktails). The end goal is to release the oils of the herbs into the core of the drink.

3. Build the remaining ingredients of the drink on top of the muddled herbs or fruit and shake.

I had no idea!!

In my home, we love to BBQ and Smoke!!
Well, I like to BBQ as on an outdoor grill (especially ribs), and my son likes to use the Smoker. My son also loves Onions and so, I'm on you tube one day and came across this recipe. Maybe it's not new, but it was new to me.

Bacon Wrapped Onion Bombs

Not going to lie, we didn't make them recently, we actually made these this past summer, but they are so good I couldn't help it, I had to include it here.

Just ordered a pair of these UGG Fluff Yeah Slides in black.
They look super comfortable, plus I needed something to slip into; comfy house shoes, when I'm walking around the cabin as I hate being barefoot and I don't want to wear regular shoes all day. Plus, I left my other house shoes at my regular house which is 2 hours away.

I'll probably update here some kind of review after I get and wear them.

This is what I read about them:

Combining slipper and sandal into a cozy statement shoe, the Fluff Yeah is as good as it sounds and as soft as it looks. Featuring plush sheepskin with a lightweight platform to keep things airy, this standout slide pairs perfectly with midi dresses or your favorite jeans.

This product was made in a factory that supports women in our supply chain with the help of HERproject, a collaborative initiative that creates partnerships with brands like ours to empower and educate women in the workplace.

I also just ordered these dog collars. I like unique things and these were definitely unique.

I buy matching collars for all 3 of my dogs. All three of my dogs are all black with a tiny bit of white on them, with the exception of my youngest, the baby. She has a white diamond on her chest.

So, matching collars in blue will look great, it's the same with their winter scarves, they have matching ones in purple, red, pink and bright blue. My youngest and smallest baby rocks a purple scarf and she knows it!!

The collars that they are currently wearing are getting old, I bought them almost 2 years ago.

However, I usually run into issues when it comes to my youngest baby, because I generally have to have hers custom made due to her large size so these collars were perfect because they are all custom.

The last collar, leash and harness set for her was super expensive; her chest is 58 inches and so her harness alone was quite pricy despite that I have only used it four times.

Also, I will never buy the quick release collars or leashes, as I have found that they release too easily and sometimes when I don't intend on it. I don't recommend those for anyone with large, powerful dogs.

So, I buy leather collars and leashes that have an actual buckle. Although I don't use leashes that often, only when we go for a walk. My dogs are used to having their own acreage outside to run off leash when we are at our normal home so I'm buying them and the horse leads more or less because we are at the cabin.

This is what I read about the collars I just ordered:

Unique dog collar in Egyptian style, in blue color with white underside. Made of genuine leather, brass and with Swarovski crystals. The collar is completely hand stitched.
Collar made to order, if you want another color please write me before making the order. Shade color and texture may vary slightly, But it will be as similar, since each product is made to order.

This collar made to order, time of manufacturing 4 weeks + 3-4 weeks delivery

NOTE!!! Before order you must measure your dog's neck with a string and ruler OR measure your dog's existing collar from the leather fold at the buckle, to the hole most commonly used.
If you need leash please write me.

I won't include here what I spent on all 3 because it was ludicrous. I will say however that I would have preferred that the collars had two or three prongs on the buckle instead of just one. Nevertheless, I like them.

I didn't order the leash because I use horse leads. They are much stronger for the type of dogs that I have. But, I will have to go and grab a few blue one's to match the new collars.

When the collars come in, I will post pics of my babies wearing them!!
